COLLABORATE WITH US

We are invested in developing and implementing technologies to advance science. As a technology platform, we are open and actively seeking to establish collaborations with researchers, clinicians and companies.

In this page you can find information on different avenues for collaborations on your scientific or technological project.

For standard service requests, please refer to the Start a Project page. Don’t forget to check our Portfolio, to make sure we cover your requests.

DFG Sequencing Grants

In 2019, the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) initiated a dedicated funding program for establishing a german-wide consortium of NGS excellence centers, with the strategic goal of developing, advancing, and providing such technology to the scientific community.

The DcGC, together with the Competence Center for Genomic Analysis Kiel (CCGA, University of Kiel), the NGS Competence Center Tübingen (NCCT, University of Tübingen), and the West German Genome Center (WGGC, Universities of Cologne, Bonn and Düsseldorf), have been supported through this initiative and until this day are successfully working together as the NGS Competence Network.

The DFG program also provides funding for research projects that include substantial sequencing efforts, with anticipated costs between 100.000 to 1 million euros.

Until 2023, DFG has launched yearly calls for funding. As of 2024, funding for sequencing can be applied as part of a regular DFG project (Appendix “Hochdurchsatzsequenzierung”), with NGS centers as co-applicants.

If you have a project in mind that requires significant sequencing, please GET IN TOUCH with us. We are happy to discuss the project, advise on the experimental setup and on the best possible technologies, and also apply for joint funding for co-development of technologies or data analysis pipelines.

OpenLab

The OpenLab is a dedicated laboratory space of the DcGC conceived for development and implementation of new technologies still not offered as part of our main portfolio. Developments from the OpenLab are carried out in close collaboration with researchers to tackle specific scientific and/or technological challenges, and can eventually be offered to other user groups.

Located in the same building as the DcGC, the OpenLab is organized as a walk-in laboratory with NGS-grade equipment, where researchers can develop their own experiments independently. We offer regular and on-demand training sessions for different assays, from simple quality assessment of DNA and RNA samples and libraries, to more complex methods like single-cell experiments and long-read sequencing with Oxford Nanopore technology. With this, we hope to not only speed up your research, by giving you the flexibility to work at hours that best suit you or the experimental model, but also train scientists in the use of the latest high-throughput omics methods and assays.

The lab is equipped with a pipetting robot, instruments for droplet- and chip-based single-cell experiments (10x Genomics, MissionBio and BD Rhapsody), general equipment for library preparation and quality assessment, and a workspace for long-read sequencing using the Oxford Nanopore technology.

GET IN TOUCH If you would like to use the OpenLab for your research.

Participation in research proposals, consortia and other networks

We strive to work together with scientists as much as possible, not only as a service provider but also – and most importantly – as a research partner.

Since our foundation, participation in consortia and other research networks has been fundamental for our growth. It has enabled us to increase our team of experts and expand our technology portfolio, to reach even more scientists and to provide highly specialized and professional support.

We are actively involved in research consortia and networks, providing core support in technology application, development and data analysis.

If you would like to have us as partners on your funding application, please WRITE US AN EMAIL.

Test site for new products & solutions in high-throughput omics

Do you represent a company that develops omics-related products and is looking for a partner for testing and evaluating your application with real test cases?

Please contact us to discuss potential avenues for collaboration.
